About quartzite

Quartzite is a very hard metamorphic rock composed primarily of quartz. Its high strength and wear resistance make it suitable for producing durable construction aggregate.

The material is highly abrasive, so equipment selection, wear-resistant components and stable feeding are essential for reliable production.

Recommended process

Vibrating feeder → Jaw crusher → Hydraulic cone crusher → Vibrating screen → Finished fractions

The jaw crusher performs primary crushing of large blocks. The cone crusher handles secondary and, where needed, tertiary crushing. The screen separates saleable products and returns oversize in a closed circuit.

A VSI crusher may be added when 0–5 mm manufactured sand or improved particle shape is required.

Recommended equipment

Vibrating feeder — stable feeding

Jaw crusher — primary crushing

Hydraulic cone crusher — secondary crushing of hard, abrasive material

VSI crusher — shaping and manufactured sand

Vibrating screen — product separation

Belt conveyors — material transfer

Dust suppression — control of airborne dust

Typical products

0–5 mm — manufactured sand

5–10 mm — fine concrete and asphalt aggregate

10–20 mm — concrete, asphalt and precast aggregate

20–40 mm — road base and general construction aggregate

Important selection factors

Confirm maximum feed size, actual hardness and abrasiveness, moisture, required capacity and finished fractions. The final design should account for wear-part life, recirculating load, dust control and maintenance access.
